| I was born and raised in the boot-heel of Missouri, right on the mighty Mississippi River. That part of the state has rich fertile farmland and before the days of tractors, farmers used teams of mules to pull farm equipment when planting their fields of cotton, corn, soybeans and other crops. Now I don't know if that had anything to do with the mule becoming the state animal but the mule is the state animal of Missouri. They are large animals and have a stubborn nature, thus the old saying "Stubborn as a Mule". I have always thought they were beautiful animals and when I saw there are Mule Days festivities I knew I had to put this in the newsletter. I hope you enjoy looking at these animals and reading about Mule Days. Enjoy! |
