It's January and it's the time of year when many people start thinking about resolutions and how they are going to improve their lives. Web designers are no different. Most designers would love to see a site they've designed win an award, and now is your chance to nominate your site. The About.com Reader's Choice awards are accepting nominations from now until January 24th. And if your resolution is to become a better designer, then the Daily Design Challenge is a great way to do that. And you can see from the poll that you're not alone in wanting to improve your skills. Happy New Year!

Reader's Choice Awards
It's time to start nominating. On my site you can Nominate Best Web Designs, Nominate Best Web Design Software, and Nominate Best Web Hosting Companies. But there are lots of other categories on other About.com sites. Be sure to nominate. Only the 5 best in each category will go on for voting.

Daily Design Challenge is Gathering Steam
There are now a lot of participants in the Daily Design Challenge. In the coming weeks, I am going to start a newsletter for people interested in the challenge. It will showcase some of the designs I've done (my drawings) as well as give you suggestions for what to design if you're feeling stuck. Don't forget to check out the forums and post your designs. There are some great designs already posted, and I'm sure more are just waiting to be shown off. Have you taken the pledge to spend 15-30 minutes a day practicing design? Why not?
