From Jacci Howard Bear, your Guide to Desktop Publishing
As I mentioned last week, the overall theme for the month of May is Typography. We're kicking it off with something spacey and something cheesy.

Typesetting the Space Between Characters, Words, & Sentences
Perhaps there's a solution to the running debate over one space or two at the end of sentences. Let's use something other than a hit or two on the spacebar. Even if that doesn't interest you, there are other reasons to look into some of the special space characters available. And if you never, ever have occasion to use a thin space or a thick space you can at least nod knowingly when it comes up in casual conversation. Read Lost in Spaces.

Cheese or Font for iPhone
It's not really going to teach you much about fonts. You might learn a little about the wild names of some cheeses. This game app for the iPhone is free entertainment for when you are really, really bored. Don't have an iPhone? The app is based on a Web version so you can play online. About.com Desktop Publishing on Twitter
Do you use Twitter? I took a long break and now I'm tweeting some again but I'm retiring @tweebleone so if you followed me there, try my new handle (the official About.com account) @AboutDesktopPub where I just started some light tweeting over the weekend.
Because I'm using the official About.com Twitter account those Twitter links in this and other newsletters will take you right there. I'm not using the official About.com Facebook page so that Facebook button won't get you to the good stuff. Go here to find me.
