| | I was rearranging the television and related components in my living room over the weekend. All the cords from the antenna, Wii, A/V for the security cameras, etc. were temporarily exposed hanging haphazardly from a new shelf holding the TV. I was contemplating ways to hide the cords but something my daughter said made me think, hmmmm... maybe there's an easier fix. I made labels. Decorative labels. Looks kinda nifty. | | Decorative Cable Labels Here are two styles of labels to try out. Each set comes in TV, computer, and appliance versions. There is a PDF for each one. If you like the idea but not these exact versions, make your own. These were designed in Adobe Illustrator but you can use any graphics or desktop publishing software. As an alternative to these slide on tags, you could use sheets of adhesive labels. Repeat your design/title twice and fold the label in the middle over the cord so you have the tag showing from both sides. Or, print on regular paper, punch a hold at one end and attach the tag with a piece of matching string. The labels I did for my own cords (similar to the "Fancy" set) are personalized a bit more than these generic ones. I also color-coded them. All the TV-related tags are one style, tags for lamps are another style, etc. If you're looking for an easy project to practice your desktop publishing or graphics skills (and spend hours trying out fonts!), give this project a shot. | | | | | | | Desktop Publishing Ads | | | | Featured Articles | | | | | More from About.com | | | | | | 10 Bathroom Remodels There's nothing worse than a bathroom remodel that looks like it belongs in a gas station.
