We're revisiting some recent blog posts because readers have added some important and interesting thoughts on these subjects. Read about writing...

How Do You Spell Desktop Publishing?
In connection with our recent poll on design pet peeves, JDB lamented "truly appalling" spelling. As a designer, is it your job to correct the misspellings and related errors of the writer, the copyeditor, the client? What if you are the writer? Here's some "off the top of my head" thoughts on why spelling is a design issue.

Re-Cursive
No matter how you spell it, it looks lovelier in cursive... If you missed it, check out what one state is doing to cursive handwriting and see what readers are saying. Here's a sampling of comments:
"When I was young I remember seeing the journal that my grandmother did to practice her cursive writing, it was beautiful!"

"Some people have laughed at this, but when my daughter was born we had to decide between 2 common spellings for her name: Theresa or Teresa. I wrote them both out as a signature and chose Theresa because it looked more elegant in cursive."

"I love cursive. I agonize over just the right font for digital collages, party invitations, and lament that e-mails (and comment boxes) don't allow more font choices."
