Adobe Premiere Elements
For Macs and PCs, Adobe Premiere Elements has all the features that beginning or intermediate hobbyist editors are looking for in a software program. You can buy just the video editing program, or splurge and get it bundled with Photoshop Elements.
| Pinnacle Studio HD
Pinnacle makes a variety of PC-based video editing software. There is even a free version, Pinnacle Spin.
| Sony Vegas Movie Studio
Sony Vegas has a lot of ardent fans, and the basic version is under $50. Even the top-of-the-line version, Vegas Pro, is a steal at around $500.
| Corel VideoStudio
Corel is lightweight but full of features. There's a basic version for express editing, and then a couple upgrades from there. The top program includes photo and video editing software.
