From Jacci Howard Bear, your Guide to Desktop Publishing
Unemployment is high and if you're one of the unemployed the outlook is not great. And even if you already have a job, you may be looking for something different. Over the next few weeks we'll look at ways to give yourself an edge over other job seekers. Let's start with why you may need a portfolio. They aren't just for graphic designers.

Check out some of the great comments over on our Facebook page regarding the decline in spelling and punctuation in formal writing. Have you checked, double-checked, and triple-checked your resumé and job applications for spelling and punctuation errors?

Do You Have a Portfolio?

Word Processing vs. Desktop Publishing
Is there a difference? Now days word processing software is used for projects traditionally created with desktop publishing software. Knowing the differences and similarities can help with your job search and perhaps keep you from offending a potential employer who wants you to do desktop publishing using (ack!) Microsoft Word (hey, if that's what they want and it gets you in the door, don't knock it).
