Here at home the other day we were struggling with some simple math (it involved a broken tape measure and a really, really large 8 month old). I can't do math in my head very well. Pencil and paper works. My kids almost have to have a calculator (oh the groans when I forced them to write down math problems and 'show their work'). While you might not need advanced mathematics to do desktop publishing, at some point you will need to crunch some numbers...
