From Charles Herold, your Guide to Wii Games

The games are really beginning to flow in now. This week I have two reviews, Kirby's Return to Dream Land and Go Vacation, and those were the only games I had available to review. But now I have choices. In my to-do pile this week I have added three brand new games, Disney Universe, Ben 10: Galactic Racing and Centipede Infestation. I also finally convinced Activision's PR flack that regardless of what her shipping department was telling her, I had not been sent any of their recent games, so now I have X-Men Destiny and Spider-Man: Edge of Time. The intriguing story-line makes me want to do the Spider-Man game next, but I have to give preference to games that are sent in a timely manner, so Disney Universe is the one I will review first. But since the other two new games are rather underwhelming I may put Spidey next in line, in spite of some concerns about the controls and camera.

"Kirby's Return to Dream Land" Reviewed
You know what's really cool about Nintendo; they send their games to game reviewers over a week before their ship date, allowing us to publish a review the day the game comes out. So Kirby's Return to Dream Land comes out October 24, and my review comes out, you guessed it, October 24. So let us admire Nintendo for their ability to set a deadline and stick to it and for their ability to send out complete boxed copies of their games instead of almost finished games burned on disks that have the game's name scribbled on them with a Sharpie. And while we're at it, let's admire them for making some really good games. As an example of the latter, here's my review of Read more

"Go Vacation" Reviewed
I thought reviewing Go Vacation would be like reviewing any mini-game collection; you play a bunch of mini-games and tell the readers whether most of them are good or most of them are bad. But the game's designers' open world framing mechanism muddied the waters, forcing me to really think about whether a game's ambitious, creative elements can balance out its poorly implemented, hackneyed ideas. It's a tough question you can see me wrestle with in my review of Go Vacation.

DICE Interview: Battlefield 3 for Wii U Unlikely
In an interview with Metro, Patrick Liu, a producer at game development studio DICE, has said that it is unlikely Battlefield 3 will come out for the Wii U, "because the Wii U is so far out." He also said that if they make something for the console (he said he "didn't know" if DICE would make a special Wii U Battlefield game) then he would like to come up with something special for the console's touch screen controller: "until we get ... read more
