| from Jennifer Kyrnin So, it's been an interesting week for me. My husband's birthday was last week, mine is this week, and we had both his parents and my parents visiting. Normally, I wouldn't bore you with all this, but our Web server hard drive died completely out of the blue on Friday night. I've been scrambling to get it running, restore from backups, and assure clients that this is a once in a lifetime occurrence (fingers crossed). All while juggling family staying with us. Needless to say, I haven't written a lot for About.com in that time. In fact, I haven't even gotten my mail in that time, because it was coming through that server as well. Whee! The great thing about colocation is that you own the hardware. So if you want to add more space, you just add more space. If you want more memory, you add it. If you want a faster machine, you change that too. But the drawback is, if the machine dies, you have to fix it. Sometimes late at night, and sometimes when guests are at home. One of my favorite Web design tools to come out of this decade is the use of CSS for defining the look of your website. So I wonder how many people still use tables to define the layout...
