On Sunday night (the 24th) the nomination period ends for the About.com Reader's Choice Awards. Then I'll sift through the nominations, make a list, and put up the polls for voting on your nominations. But it's about more than just picking a winner. A nomination helps others discover tools and resources they might have otherwise missed. And for some small publishers or Web sites, it can be a much-needed vote of confidence just to get mentioned alongside "the big guys." So, please, take a few minutes to nominate your choice for best software, online service, app, or resource.

At the bottom of this newsletter you'll find direct links to all 12 of my nomination forms.

Does Anyone Pay for Photos Anymore?
OK, I'll admit that for what I do, if I can't take the photo myself (which I often do), I can usually find free images to use. But freebie photos won't work for a lot of situations... read more, share your thoughts on using free images vs. paying for images, and nominate your favorite resources for paid images.

Inkd.com vs. StockLayouts.com
Trevor says Inkd is the better value with more subscription options. What's your take? Both of these sites have received Reader's Choice nominations. Show your support by making your own nomination of one of these or some other contender. And use the nomination form or the comments field of the blog post to tell us about your experiences with either one or both of these template resources.

Saving the World From Bad Graphic Design
Sure, it's cheesy, campy but kinda cute. Watch the adventures of DesignGirl and kerningboy as they attack "The Papyrus Virus." Maybe the next villain they subdue will be that dastardly... Read more

Top Picks - 2010 About.com Reader's Choice Awards  from your  About.com Computing  Guide
Yes, I have my own twelve categories but there are dozens more. Below are a few from fellow About.com Guides. Nominate your choices and stick around to explore these great sites.

1) What is Google's Best Product Besides Search?
I've mentioned before that I use Google Docs a lot but lately I've been doing the Wave. Haven't quite figured it out and because it's still in preview mode there are some kinks, but I think I like it. I also like igoogle.com, Google Maps, and several others. How about you? What does Google do best, other than search? And speaking of search... is Google the best or not?

2) What is the Best Web Designer's Web Page?
Are you a Web designer? Does your own Web site reflect how good you really are? Nominate yourself. And whether it's your site or not, if you know of a Web site that's the best of the best in one of these categories, make your nomination: Product Page Design | Information or Content Page Design | Form Page Design.

3) What's the Best Mac Office Suite?
Are iWork, Microsoft Office, and OpenOffice the best choices on the Mac? Mac users aren't limited to just software designed for the Mac. Some can run Windows software too. What do you use for running Windows on a Mac?
