From Mary Landesman, your Guide to Antivirus Software
A botnet is a collection of compromised (infected) computers under the collective control of remote attackers. Many of today's botnets are used for data theft. This week, a look at some of the most common.

Common Botnets
Botnets are used for everything from data theft to distributed denial of service attacks. Most botnets sell 'space' on the botnet to bidders who may then deliver additional malware or use it for additional malicious purposes. Here are some of the most common botnets.

Are You in a Botnet?
Some botnets have more victims than some countries have residents. Of special interest to the attackers are your personal financial details - once stolen they are used for everything from credit card fraud to outright identity theft. In short, it's not just your computer at risk - it's your wallet.

DDoS, Zombies, and Botnets
Trojans are often used to launch Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks against targeted systems, but just what is a DDoS attack and how are they performed? Here are some answers.

Police Your Password Recovery Options
Cybercriminals can hijack your online accounts to order items at your expense, gain access to your email, or use your good name to send spam, malware and scams to people. Make sure your password recovery options aren't the backdoor they use to gain access.
