From Jacci Howard Bear, your Guide to Desktop Publishing
Voting starts on Friday for the About.com Readers' Choice Awards. You'll recognize some of the finalists from last year but there are also new entries in every category. Watch my blog or Facebook page on the 11th to find out if your favorite is a finalist in each category. Check all the finalists (you might discover a new favorite). Then VOTE for the best in each bunch.

Another Option for Coloring Your Fonts
I was poking around the FontFont site when I found FF Dingbats 2.0. Many of the dingbats have an interesting way of coloring them in that doesn't involve selecting/masking areas to fill with color. You can get a free sampler font to try it out if you've got InDesign or Illustrator CS2 or above. See the little ducky I colored in Illustrator

Deep in the Heart of TeX...
TeX/LaTeX didn't garner enough nominations to make it as a finalist in our Free Software category of the Readers' Choice Awards but if you're looking for a free desktop publishing/typesetting alternative take a look at TeX/LaTeX.

Using PowerPoint
Did you know that this is Say 'No' to PowerPoint Week? For those who prefer to say 'Yes' explore some of the different ways of using PowerPoint (it's not all about the office).
