This issue of the newsletter is crammed full of goodies. I hope you'll find something you enjoy. Tutorials: Are you new to Adobe InDesign? Or, perhaps you've had the program awhile but are still struggling to learn your way around the software. I'm in the middle of organizing dozens of excellent tutorials hidden here and there all over the Web. First up, a collection of tutorials for doing specific kinds of projects and a collection of tutorials on the basics of the InDesign tools.
Candy Wrappers: For Microsoft Publisher and Serif PagePlus users I have the start of a brand new collection of candy bar wrapper templates. I felt like such a glutton when I dumped a huge armload of candy bars on the check-out counter. But they were all supplies for desktop publishing. Of course after I finish using them to properly size all the templates I'm making, I'll be feasting on them! Until then, it will take a great deal of self-control having all that chocolate in my office.
There are three templates so far for one size of candy bar. You'll find download links to some great free fonts used in two of the templates.
Pretty Fonts: I made a last minute Mother's Day addition to the site last Thursday. The holiday is past but check out the images and grab the free fonts I used in each one.
Job Opportunity: If you have desktop publishing experience and you're handy with Microsoft Publisher, here's a potential freelance job opportunity for you. Please, reply directly to the contact given and not to me. I have no more info than what I'm posting here:
There may be an upcoming need for an expert in Desktop Publishing and Microsoft Publisher to review and build templates for the newest version of the MS Office Suite. Candidates for this project should have the following:
- 3 Years Desktop Publishing at Expert level
- 2 Years Microsoft Publisher at Intermediate level
- Minimum three years' experience desktop publishing, preferably creating consumer-focused content like newsletters, cards, and family calendars.
- Microsoft Office Publisher experience strongly preferred, but other desktop publishing expertise would be applicable.
- Ability to take design requirements for Microsoft Publisher templates and build them into efficient, usable templates with minimal guidance and quick turnaround.
- Ability to follow directions, make suggestions, and iterate quickly and efficiently is critical to success
- Strong communication and user interface design skills required
The project is expected to kickoff at the beginning of June, and work will continue until the end of October. The project isn't expected to be fulltime, however could be up to 40 hours a week at some points throughout the duration. If qualified and interested, reply quickly with a copy of your most recent resume to: Korynn Stark, Author Acquisitions / SME Coordinator for Studio B Productions, Inc. (www.studiob.com) at korynn@studiob.com
Please, serious inquiries only.
