| | | All the News That's Fit to Read on Your Printer I was once resistant to the idea of all-in-one printer/copier/scanner machines. Now Lexmark has added newsreader to the combo. What do you think? In the comments reader Stujin makes a pretty good case for this new feature. | Do You Need a PostScript Printer? I can remember the days when I had to take my digital files to a friend's house to use her oh-so-cool (but more than I could afford) laser printer. It would be several years before I got my own laser printer. Yet, I mostly just my inkjet now. Do you use a PostScript laser printer? Is it really necessary these days, or not? | Calibrate Your Printer Is the red on your monitor not quite the red you get from your printer? It might not be your monitor that needs calibrating. It could be that your printer needs some tweaking. | Back to the Phone Numbers Last week I blogged about the use of dots, dashes, and parentheses to separate numbers in a phone number. In the comments (#10) Steve writes, "Hyphens or periods should NOT be used as separators in the written representation of a telephone number; use only spaces." And then he follows with a long list of rules for the proper formatting of a phone number. Wow. Must say that there is probably only a tiny percentage of the population that knows or follows these rules. In the US at least we are so much more flexible (good? bad? hard to say). But if you are formatting phone numbers for business cards, brochures, and such for different countries, it probably is a good idea to know what is and isn't most acceptable for that area. | | | | Desktop Publishing Ads | | | | Featured Articles | | | | | More from About.com | | | | | | Plan a Unique Vegas Wedding The minister, music and champagne are just the beginning -- why not get married aboard a helicopter or have a pirate swing in to deliver your rings?
