About Today: How to Be Good to Yourself in 2010

About.com    Today
In the Spotlight | More Topics |
  from Jen Hubley
OK, I've found it: It's our New Year's Resolution for 2010. The only one, in fact, that we need. This year, instead of fixating on losing weight, quitting our bad habits, and paying off our debt, let's just agree to be nicer to ourselves. If we can do that, the other stuff will be easy.

Top 10 Resolutions for a More Positive New Year
This is my favorite: Do something for you everyday. I have a lot of friends who became parents this year. This is particularly appropriate for them. I'm thinking especially of my friend who bragged to me about getting a whole five hours of sleep.

What Are Your Resolutions?
A lot of people are resolving to get up earlier this year. I would do the same, but I hate to start off a new year by lying to myself.

How to Create Good Habits
We tend to think of our bad habits as moral failings, but in fact, they're just things we've trained ourselves to do. Want to be nicer to yourself in the new year? This is how to make it stick.
