From Jacci Howard Bear, your Guide to Desktop Publishing
A new store opened in my neighborhood on Wednesday and before heading to the library -- where I'm typing up this newsletter -- I paid it a visit. I'm looking for a new TV for my living room but found myself drawn to the computer section. Spotted what seems like a good deal (more research needed) on a computer with a touchscreen monitor. I use my iPad so much that I'm constantly catching myself poking my finger at the monitor on my netbook and my desktop monitors. All I get for my trouble is a smudge on the screen.

What is a Desktop Publisher?
I generally don't use the term desktop publisher but many employers do. Also, some designers use the term -- often in a negative way -- to describe those they see as less talented or less serious about desktop publishing. What are you?

Where Do You Work?
Whether you are a freelance designer or a administrative assistant responsible for the company newsletter you do your work somewhere, right? What makes your workspace a good place to do desktop publishing? Browse the workspaces of some our readers and submit your own photo and description of your home office, cubicle, corner office, coffee shop corner, or makeshift office at the kitchen table. I just added some details about my office away from home at the library. Show Off Your Office Space.
