From Jacci Howard Bear, your Guide to Desktop Publishing
Welcome to another software-filled Monday morning edition of the About.com Desktop Publishing newsletter -- which you may or may not actually be reading on Monday. That's OK. I'll be here whenever you're ready to dig in.

Read something you like? Share it. When you're on most pages of About.com Desktop Publishing just look for the Share link at the end of blog posts or in the upper right of articles and tutorials (near the big orange Search button). Thank You for Sharing!

Forcing Upgrades
Are your upgrades (at least partly) driven by cost? Is it the cost of the software or the cost of upgrading the hardware to handle the software? Talk about your approach to upgrades.

Suite Deals on CorelDRAW
The CorelDRAW Graphics Suite now comes in 3 editions: Standard (the original), Professional (with Web stuff), and an almost but not quite the same as standard edition that's aimed at home users and students. Which one is for you?

Til 9/30: Get a Painter 11/Intuos4 Bundle
Both Corel Painter 11 and the Wacom Intuos4 graphics tablet got high marks in reviews last year by Sue, our Graphics Software Guide. Through the end of the month Corel is offering special pricing on both when you get them together.

Drawing With a Pen Without Ink
A few weeks back I blogged about Mac illustration software in Drawing With Your Mac. Martin commented "Hi, It's great to draw with a Mac, but it's also important to have some sort of drawing tablet. (LIke the Wacom ones). I know people who couldn't live without their tablet! After you get used to it, you can find your freehand drawing really takes off." I agree. A tablet and pen are great computer illustration tools. If you use a tablet (and it doesn't have to be a Wacom, mine's not) take a few minutes to tell others what you like or don't like about it. About.com Graphics Software Guide Sue Chastain is compiling graphics tablet reviews.
