Tips & Tutorials

From Jacci Howard Bear, Your Guide to Desktop Publishing.
I do all kinds of reading. It used to be that 95% of my reading was from books, magazines, and newspapers. But over the years they've taken a back seat at times to Web pages, e-books, PDF files, and reading on my iPhone. However, despite reading drafts of its obituary for a dozen years now, print isn't dead.

7+1 Tutorials on Designing Booklets
A booklet is like a book but usually smaller or shorter or less in-depth. Then again, I've picked up some pretty hefty little booklets from time to time. Have you read any good booklets lately? How about designing booklets?

The Web Design Blues
Yes, reading on the Web is different from reading printed material. But some of the ways we present information on the Web is very much like how it is presented in print. And not all of it is good. Read about ugly Web pages.

Follow Me on Facebook
Don't just follow... participate. I periodically post messages and interesting links there that don't appear on the About.com Desktop Publishing site. Recently I posted a link about the art of animated GIFs. Comment on the links. Post your own notes (the page is open to followers for posting) and links as long as there is at least some semi-relationship to desktop publishing. Blog posts also get cross-posted. Feel free to use that Share it link to share some of them with your own Facebook followers when appropriate.
