From Jacci Howard Bear, your Guide to Desktop Publishing
I have a daughter planning a wedding in the late summer or early fall of 2013. I'll be doing the wedding invitations (with a lot of input from her, I'm sure - she's planning on going to school for a graphic design-related degree). One of many early options I'm considering is letterpress.

Letterpress Printing
If you're designing for letterpress you should know about some of its limitations and how you'll need to plan your design. For example, it's a spot color process that doesn't really lend itself well to full color photographs. But you can get some elegant business cards, letterhead, and yes, wedding invitations from letterpress.

Lyla's Graduation Template
Speaking of daughters, a few weeks ago I mentioned the graduation announcement / invitation we created for my eldest daughter's college graduation. I've turned it into an Adobe InDesign template. I've given you the general specs and fonts used so that even if you don't use InDesign you can get ideas from this tri-fold brochure style design we came up with. The hardest part? Tying the tiny narrow ribbons that we wrapped around all the folded announcements!

Check Your TIC!
This won't generally be a problem with letterpress, but for offset printing you may need to play with your CMYK numbers to prevent problems with having too many layers of ink. TIC, TAC, and TIL are similar ways to express ink coverage.
