Skating Scandals
Speaking of the ice, who knew there were so many scandals in skating? Once I start thinking about it, I do remember the whole Tonya and Nancy thing, but wow, it's been over 15 years?

Inexplicably, I am an assistant coach on my son's little league team (run! run! no, go back! I have no idea of the rules). Despite my lack of knowledge, I think my promotion from simply being present to assistant coach was due to the Woody Allen bit about just showing up. And thank goodness my son doesn't ask me too many questions that I can't just make up the answer to. "Yep, if you catch a pop fly in your hat, your team wins the game!"
| Golf Trivia: When Does the US Open Start?
Tomorrow, silly! I'm not a big golfer, but if you are, now is a good time to get the popcorn, burritos, and jerseys ready. Just a minute, I'm getting some late-breaking information: Apparently, golfers don't party that way. It's more cruditè, cucumber sandwiches and plaid pants. Which means, for me, every day is US Open day.

I've been spending a lot more time away from my nerd world and into sports. And while I initially dreaded the overbearing parents and coaches at my kid's games, I'm really quite happy. And, to be honest, my views began to change when I read about former UCLA basketball coach John Wooden. Check out the article above and then watch this video of John Wooden's talk at TED. It's one of the most inspiring talks I've ever seen.
