Multi-Dimensional Audio - Taking Control of Surround Sound
There is has been a lot of talk about new surround sound formats for both the cinema and home, such as the 11-channel DTS-Neo:X and 64-channel Dolby Atmos, but there is another open-source approach being nurtured that may end up being the true breakthrough that frees sound from the limitations of channels and speakers, and places it in a true three-dimensional spacial environment, referred to as Multi-Dimensional Audio. For a look at this approach and its potential applications, read my report: Multi-Dimensional Audio - Rethinking Surround Sound. MDA Audio Logo (c) SRS Labs - Used By Permission.

Last Minute Father's Day Gift Reminder
Father's Day is this coming Sunday, June 17, 2011. If you have been procrastinating, there is still time to consider a great home theater gift for Dad. Check out some of my gift suggestions, including Blu-ray Disc Players, LCD TVs, home theater systems, and more for Dad's special day.

Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows - Blu-ray Disc Review
Personally, I like Robert Downey Jr better as Tony Stark/Iron Man that Sherlock Holmes, but he more than establishes separate identities for each character successfully. The most recent outing of Downey as Sherlock Holmes is now out on Blu-ray in three different package options, including a Best Buy Exclusive, with a top notch video transfer and excellent audio execution, but the story is a little convoluted. To find out if this Blu-ray Disc release is worth the price, read my Review. Photo (c) Robert Silva - Licensed to About.com

Sony NAS-SV20i Network Audio System/Server - Review
Internet streaming and home networking is not only rapidly changing how content is accessed in a home theater environment, but how entertainment is distributed throughout the house. The Sony NAS-SV20i is a great example of how practical and easy whole house music distribution can be. Although it looks large a large clock radio, the NAS-SV20i is actually a very flexible music system that features a built-in iPod docking station, internet radio, music streaming, and wireless network whole house music distribution capability utilizing Sony's HomeShare system.
